Great colleagues and tough samples: three months that flew by

It was a pleasure to host Sara Canoyra Sánchez for a three-month doctoral research placement. Sara is a final-year PhD student at the Animal Health Research Centre (CISA-INIA-CSIC) near Madrid. She arrived from the lab of Juan Maria Torres with a set of highly challenging samples that really pushed the limits of our approaches, but was an absolute pleasure to work with from day one.

The three months flew by, and we were sorry to see Sara leave at the end of April. Fortunately, she returned in time to co-organise the 14th Iberian Prion Meeting in Madrid.

Sara even gave up watching Atlético de Madrid play to come out with us for her leaving do! Three months and already family…

We’re very happy to have hosted Sara. Science thrives on exchanges like these, and we look forward to many more opportunities to work together in the future.
