Dr Debabrata Dutta joins the lab as Research Associate

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Debabrata (Debu) Dutta, our new senior postdoctoral researcher.

Debu joins us with a strong background in cryo-EM. In his most recent role at UMass, he led the discovery of the molecular architecture of the thick filament, the principal contractile element of human cardiac muscle. The work reveals the precise organisation of myosin, the motor protein that drives muscle contraction within this filament. This structural insight provides a foundation for developing targeted therapies to correct defects in this intricate molecular machine. The study was published in Nature.

We are very pleased to have Debu on board. His expertise and insight will be of great value to our research, and we look forward to his scientific contributions and collaboration within the team.

In our lab, Debu will be working on cryo-EM, cryo-SXT, cryo-ET, and sub-tomogram averaging projects, focusing on prions both ex vivo and in situ.
